Marian University
$2,100
Marian University received $2,100 to support a laptop lending project for its TRIO-Student Support Serviced Program. The program serves 140 students who are considered at-risk of not completing a bachelor’s degree. TRIO-SSS is federally funded program through the US Department of Education with the goal of increasing college retention and graduation rates. Currently, the program offers two older computers for students to check-out and often times there is a waiting list. These funds will be used to purchase 4 additional laptops.
Of the students being served in the 2017-18 school year, 71% are low-income and 96% of the low-income students also either have a disability or are first-generation to attend college in their family. 75% of the students served are also female.
