May Mental Health Challenge Information Coming Soon!

Last year, in 2024, the commitment to mental health remained a priority for the Fond du Lac Area Women’s Fund. Recognizing the continuous challenges faced by individuals, particularly our youth, we were inspired by Governor Tony Evers’ declaration of the previous year as “the year of mental health” in Wisconsin.

Alarming mental health statistics persist, indicating the urgent need for investment and support.

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction reveals significant mental health needs among students statewide, emphasizing the ongoing challenges that demand our attention.

  • 1 in 5 U.S. adults experience mental illness each year
  • 1 in 20 U.S. adults experience serious mental illness each year
  • 1 in 6 U.S. youth aged 6-17 experience a mental health disorder each year 50% of all lifetime mental illness begins by age 14, and 75% by age 24
  • Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among people aged 10-14

Together, let’s make mental health a priority, one doable increment at a time. Dedicate 20 minutes per day to be mentally healthy!
